Bhavye Mathur is the Chairman and Secretary General of IISP MUN, and has been an integral part of the Model United Nations since its creation in 2022. He is responsible for the oversight of every aspect of the conference, from its conceptualisation, to strategic planning, to execution. His work has directly influenced IISP MUN’s outreach program, logistical planning, financing, technical development, and much more.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Bhavye founded the CFR Project: an internationally-awarded environmental initiative. He led a team of 25 pan-India students to push climate science research, develop sustainable technologies, and organise innovative, online social initiatives that aimed to bring the climate conversation to the forefront of youth discussion. His scientific work was peer-reviewed, and published at the 2nd International Conference on Emerging Techniques in Computational Intelligence (ICETCI 2022) where he was the youngest presenter invited to speak. His leadership helped the project win the John “Mac” McQuown Award for Sustainability in 2022 and the Best Academic Project at the International POP Festival in 2021.
Bhavye has always had an affinity towards mathematics and computer science. He has over 7 years of programming experience in Python, Java, C, C#, Full-Stack Web Development, x86 Assembly, OpenGL, and more. He is the sole and lead developer of goopylib, a C++ and Python package that helps build powerful visual applications, which has over 86,000 downloads today. His more recent work in machine learning has focused on leveraging multi-model, mathematical approaches to predict the Earth’s complex atmosphere.
In his free time, Bhavye is a passionate pianist and classical music lover who frequently listens to Beethoven and Tchaikovsky. He also loves the world of The Lord of the Rings and owns a wide collection of JRR Tolkien’s mythical Legendarium.
